In psychology, sensation and perception researches examine the process by which various stimuli around us reach the brain and how the brain processes them and creates output.

Now let's discover both term in depth.

What is Sensation?

Sensation is the arrival of a stimulus from internal and external sources to the central nervous system. During the sensation stage, stimuli in the environment are converted into neural language and coded by sensory receptors.

This process is a passive process and can occur consciously or unconsciously.

What is Perception?

To understand the sensed stimulus, sensory data must be selected, organized and interpreted. All of these processes are called perception. The perception process is an active and subjective process. Perception can change depending on past experiences, cognitive abilities, emotions and the current situation.
